The Great Hunt is the second book in The Wheel of Time series. You can see my back story on this series in my review of the first book, The Eye of the World. This one picks up a few weeks after the other ends with our heroes finally dividing to pursue their own futures, the women on to Tar Valon to learn how to channel the One Source and the men to present the mythical Horn of Valere to the hunters, only to lose it early on and forced to hunt it down meeting there own dangers and victories along the way.
The story followed a similar pattern to the first in that Rand and the others stuggle against their futures, finally acknowledge them, do some stupid things and in the end, there’s a large battle where Rand’s identity is confirmed to the world. There’s still plenty of intrigue and it’s hard to know who to trust and who to not trust plus the beginnings of the plot creep are here (does anyone know what all the people mentioned in the prologue really are?), which unfortunately leads this series to become a 14 book opus.
That said, I’m still intrigued and will continue though the idea of plowing through all fourteen books at once immediately became too daunting so that now, I’m going to pace them out.
Anyway, if you like fantasy series, this one is pretty famous so give it a go.
