Can anything be more American than a good steak and some big meaty fries? That’s what I thought but they don’t call them French fries for nothing and you can find this dish, also known as Steak Frites all over Paris.
Well, my friend, Janet, sent me this article from the NY Times, Steak Frites: Seeking the Best of a Classic that appeared over the weekend in the choice table section. Now I’m no vegetarian, and once a month, I love a good steak, so this seems like a definite possibility to me.
The article highlights about five different restaurants in Paris where you can enjoy this classic dish.
- Au Boeuf Couronné
- Chez Georges, 273 bd. Pereire, 17e, 01-45-74-31-00 (I guess no website)
- Le Relais de Venise
- Le Sèvero, 8, rue des Plantes, 14e, 01-45-40-40-91 (again, no website)
- Le Bistro Paul Bert, 18, rue Paul Bert, 11e, 01-43-72-24-01 (you know the drill)
And here are the NY Times reviews for these places:
Now there remain only two questions 1) Do my partners in crime eat meat and 2) Do we venture to one of these establishments or strike out on our own. I guess to find the answer to that question, you’ll have to return in a few months and read.
MMMM Steak! 😀 I am THERE.
