In Spider Bones, a strange death in Canada, of course leads Dr. Brennan back to near her home in North Carolina followed by further investigation in Hawaii. I stayed with this story because the bulk of it takes place in Hawaii but honestly other than educating the reader on JPAC (before the scandals shut down the unit in 2013), it could have been set anywhere. Again, riddled with stupid moves by Tempe (really, inviting your former lover and his addict daughter to vacation with your distraught daughter), I again question why I continue with these books as they definitely go down the same path as Patricia Cornwell, where the heroine basically turns into a complete idiot (wait to you read my review for the next book in the series), I can hardly find her credible any more. It’s a shame but what is there to do? At least I got 14 books in before I cried uncle. After my next review of Flash and Bones, I’ll probably set these aside.
