Guess I should have written this review soon after finishing In Cold Blood but oh well. Suffice it to say, though the subject matter was disturbing, I found the story well written and the characters developed. I actually think the story flowed more like fiction and easier than one of my other favorite non-fiction stories, Devil in the White City.
Strangely, the one thing I felt missing from the book was the author, Truman Capote. Reading it, I had this mental image of Capote conducting interviews of all those involved to develop and write this story, after the fact. It wasn’t until I watched the movie, Capote, immediately after finishing the book, that I realized, assuming the movie is accurate, that Capote was not only on the scene in Kansas very near the beginning but also an active participant in the case (I must also admit that it wasn’t until watching this movie that I realized Harper Lee was a woman!).
Anyway, really enjoyed this book and it only served to pique my interest in the case. So if anyone has any other sources of information, please feel free to share them.
