C is for CorpseContinuing with the Kinsey Millhone series from my local library, C is for Corpse centers around her investigation of a new friend’s death, possibly resulting from an auto accident months early.  I found this one sad, though you know from the get-go that her new client dies (no spoiler there); it’s still sad when it happens. As a matter of fact every person in this story has some messed up shit to deal with and it’s all really sad. Even her neighbor ends up having personal issues, again … yep sad.

Spoiler

Pile that on the fact that now three books in a row, Kinsey faces mortal danger by the end and I worry that these stories like so many mysteries is becoming too formulaic.

That said, I do like the fact, that unlike other mysteries (e.g., the Stephanie Plum series), you know exactly where this picks up in the timeline of our hero’s life (with Stephanie, god only knows how many years of her life have passed).  They’re quick reads and through the library, they’re free, so until I get thoroughly disgusted, I’ll keep reading.
